BMW is on the verge of unveiling an upcoming concept car that will showcase its next-generation electric vehicle: the Vision Neue Klasse. Ahead of the launch, the brand teased the new product, saying it will change the course of its history.
The automaker revealed earlier this month that the important electric concept car will be unveiled on September 2. It is expected to be an evolution of concept cars such as the BMW i Vision Dee, which CEO Oliver Zipse said would closely resemble the production car. A preview is expected in 2025.
In a new teaser, the automaker turns the camera to its design team, who have to talk about what the new model means to them. Unfortunately, it showed very little of the car (except for the mustard yellow seats), but it did hint at the concept’s importance.
These comments start small and harmless. One designer mentioned that she loves the yellow interior. Another mentioned that he liked the temperature control, and a third commented on the ventilation and light inside.
BMW Group design chief Adrian van Hooydonk made broader comments. “I believe that the BMW brand will be a different brand when we launch the Neue Klasse.”
This was followed by another comment in which one of the designers said: “We’re changing the heart of BMW in such a cool way right now. What could be cooler than that?” Well, big words from the design team.
The extent to which Vision Neue Klasse will transform the brand has previously hinted at Zipse as a “big project that spans the entire company”. This concerns the future of the BMW brand. ”
In fact, according to the BMW Blog, the car it previewed is expected to use sixth-generation batteries, with 30 percent longer range, 20 percent higher energy density, 30 percent faster charging, and a significant reduction in CO2 emissions during manufacturing.
BMW has confirmed six cars will be based on Neue Klasse’s dedicated EV architecture. They are expected to debut between 2025 and 2027.
