Soon as the year 2018 started, Kia introduced the third generation for Cee’d. But soon after the Geneva Motor Show, the Pro Cee’d along with a station wagon variant were introduced. Well, this Pro Cee’d date as old as the second generation of Cee’d. Initially, this was a 3-door hatchback and a shooting brake, a kind of station wagon, variant.
That is common among the automakers that they roll out the same model with a performance package with a slightly different title. And almost every other fella in the market uses this trick. Well, the simple phenomena are to get attraction and more customers which in turns is one of the best practices.
In a way, the Pro Cee’d used to be a performance variant for the actual Cee’d series. Alongside the 3-door hatchback, a 5-door model was even introduced. But that could only last for 5 years. The recent model from the third generation is only left as a 5-door station wagon or the shooting brake variant. While the three and five-door superminis have disappeared. And the credit goes to their lack of fame.
Well, the present model line includes three variants. The GT-Line opens the series, beginning at $31,230. A slightly refined GT-Line S sits in the middle with a price tag of $37,580. While the GT is considered to the sportiest variant among all but is a bit cheaper than the GT-Line S, available for $36,860. Certainly, a costly option but contains premium ingredients. But most of its competitors even offer premium stuff at a slightly lower price.

The Pro Cee’d got a different powertrain than the main Cee’d series. Performance is the core ingredient, while the economy has not been neglected. Instead, the Pro Cee’d is a performance packed the economical family car.
Well, the Pro Cee’d is available in a combination of gasoline and diesel drivetrains. All the gasoline machines are turbocharged, producing a performance rated power equaling the entry-level sports cars. While the diesel Pro Cee’d be a fine choice if you are just eyeing the economy and performance is not a major deal for you.
The base variant includes a 1.4 L 4-cylinder turbo engine with 138 hp of power producing 178 lb-ft of torque. And it comes mated with the 6-speed manual transmission. While a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission remains optional.
The performance edition is available with a 1.6 L turbocharged 4-pack engine running on 201 horses at 195 lb-ft of torque. And it is only available with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Well, this variant is in some way the continuation of the GT model that was included in the previous generation. Though they were much smarter. But this edition is even spectacular. You can expect a 0-62 mph launch within 9.6 seconds and a top of 122 mph could be attained.
Well, in the end, we have the diesel variant, containing a 1.6 L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. Further, it gets 134 hp of power at 207 lb-ft of torque. Though lesser than all the gasoline variants, it is capable of boasting some decent performance.

What could be the main difference between a station wagon aka Shooting Brake Pro Cee’d and a hatchback Cee’d? Certainly the size of the car. The Pro Cee’d is 181-inches long with a total width of 71-inches. While it is 56-inches height from the ground. Further, the rear design is given a crossover style, making it fall under the Shooting Brake criteria. While cosmetics are quite similar to the standard series. Some of the accounted differences include the 18-inch sports alloy wheels, premium optional paint, and colored brake calipers.
