The next-generation 2024 BMW X2 has been spied testing in high-performance M35i trim and is expected to launch in the coming months.

While today’s BMW X2 shares a unique bodywork with the X1 – on the same underpinnings – the new model will be a “coupe” version of the latest X1, just as the BMW X4 is a coupe version of the X3.

The X2’s proportions are close to the X1’s, with the front doors and hood looking familiar, but the difference is a coupe-inspired sloping rear roofline designed to give it a sportier look.

The sportiest X2 model, the flagship of the M35i, features large alloy wheels, enlarged front air intakes, a lip spoiler on the tailgate and quad tailpipes.

The X2 M35i is expected to use the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine from the X1 M35i, delivering 233kW and 400Nm of torque, distributed to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Inside the X2 M35i, BMW is expected to inherit the dual-screen interface from the latest X1.

Production of the 2024 BMW X2 will begin in November 2023, according to reputable foreign reports. The M35i is expected to be available at launch.
